Several people have been injured after a Delta Airlines flight traveling from LA to Sydney was hit by turbulence Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier stated. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.

The New South Wales Ambulance Service stated they assessed five individuals, and transported a trio to the hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised pain in the back and headaches. Those affected spanned from their thirties and seventies.

The event represents the most recent case of aircraft experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with experts saying that global warming is a significant contributor.

There were 245 passengers and 15 crew members on the wide-body jet, the representative said, adding that the plane touched down "safely and normally" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on the day in question.

Emergency responders indicated they received a call just a mere three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
