Adult Swim's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

During the fall season, Adult Swim saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the channel unveiled a fresh animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, evoking a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. At a time often characterized by bleakness, this show's sincerity struck a chord and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

Accompanying the news praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who found the show and supported its peculiarly charming sensibility.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something deeply soothing about observing this charming family navigate their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to move the comedy genre beyond its prevailing layer of irony. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well be part of that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences additional episodes to experience the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
