A representative characterized the weather overnight as "terrible", with downpours so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.

"Last night was exceptionally terrible for the people. The downpours were so intense... And the gusts were so strong," noted the spokesperson.

Officials express extreme concern that young ones living in tents in soaked garments will succumb to hypothermia and other sicknesses.

Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses due to the severe weather.

Further statements indicate a higher death toll. Officials said that several residential buildings had fully given way and many others had been partly destroyed.

  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces inundated.
  • Countless residents forced to move once more.

Assistance Operations Considered Inadequate

Groups have escalated shipments of tarpaulins, bedding and clothing after the ceasefire started, but they stress there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to deliver that aid and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the needs is so vast that we continue to see many thousands of individuals and children who are truly struggling each evening," stated one spokesperson.

Future Challenges and Ceasefire Terms

The second phase of the agreement involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of military forces, and other conditions.

Aid bodies have underscored the necessity for "increased and sustained humanitarian assistance to address urgent and future needs."

The hostilities was triggered by an offensive in October 2023. Later actions have led to a high number of lives lost in the area, based on health ministry figures.
